Concussion is based on the real-life story of Nigerian-American doctor Bennet Ifekandu Omalu, the man who first discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy (or CTE) after he conducted autopsy on former NFL player Mike Webster, and Omalu’s struggle to get NFL executives to recognize this disease.
The film is set to be released on December 25, 2015, and with an A-lister like Will Smith playing the lead role, it hopefully will draw attention to the link between the football head injuries and early onset of dementia that could lead to death, and more importantly, how this has continued to be a great bone of contention within the NFL. There are strong hopes that this shocking film will get people talking.
